AYSO REGION 187
2008/2009 Spring Select Program

Welcome...

Congratulations to all 08/09 Spring Select Coaches.  The Head and Assistant Coaches, and their teams (players & parents) will be representing Moreno Valley AYSO Region 187 throughout Southern California and possibly other States.

Being in a Spring Select Team is a privilege, not a right.  All who represent these teams will be acting as the representatives of Region 187 and the City of Moreno Valley and therefore must be mindful of your words and actions when your team is playing at Home or Away.

This Region has high expectations from all our Spring Select teams this season in how you promote the philosophies of AYSO as you travel near and far for the next few months.

Coaches

This website will be your primary source of information.  You are strongly encouraged to visit this website often, especially the Calendar.  We will do our utmost in keeping this website with the up-to-date information so that you are fully aware of what is going on.  Please contact the Select Coordinator if the information you seek is not on this website!

Parents/Guardians

Please remember that the ultimate leader of the team is the head coach and his/her decisions must be respected during and after the games.  You are there to support and cheer your child during the games.  Your behavior as a parent will be reflected by your child.

This website has been created to inform you about the Spring Select Program your child is involved in.  If you are not familiar with this program, we encourage you to visit the About page to learn the basics.  In addition, if you want to assist your child's team, please visit the Positions page to give you an idea as to how you can do so.

Players

Ask your parents to take pictures of your season so we can post them online under Album, so you can share with your friends and family.  Tell us what else you would like to see on this website and we will do our best to make it happen.  Just send us a note and we will take it from there.  Remember to have a fun, fair and safe season!
Player Selection Process...Roster Approval...Registration...

Assuming that you have been watching players within your Division of interest throughout the Fall season, you probably already have a list of players you would like to invite to join your Spring Select team.

Now that you have been selected as the successful Select Coach, you may now use this list to approach the parents of these players and give them an informational letter about the Spring Select Program and of your interest in selecting their child.  This letter in no way guarantees a place but only that you are interested.  The parents then will be invited to an informational meeting to answer any questions they may have in order to make their decision to place their child in the program.

From here you will compose a list of players to submit to the Select Coordinator for approval to create your team roster...

Once you have a list of players who are committed to join the team with their parents’ approval, this list must be submitted to the Select Coordinator for final approval.

The players will be checked for eligibility, including the number of games played during the Fall season and the numbder of red and yellow cards recieved during that season, plus any other issues which may be pertinent.  All decisions are final and the Coach will be informed of the decision as soon as it's made.

Based on the final list of approved players, you can approach the players and offer a position on your team.  This will be the basis in creating your team roster.

The next step is to go through the registration process...

Dec. 9th => 12th (refer to Calendar for details)

All Spring Select Players must be registered just like our regular Fall and Spring Programs. The registration fee of $200 includes $70 for Select, $50 for uniform (2 jerseys, pair of shorts and 2 pairs of socks), with the balance going into the team account.

Once the fee has been paid, the players and the coaches will be photographed for ID purposes.  You will be given the laminated Player Registration Forms for all your players along with your Coach photo ID card.  The process for a typical team will take about 30 to 45 minutes if no issues come up.

Coaches are required to have the player registration/medical forms with them at ALL times during practices, games and ANY other AYSO sponsored event, including fundraising!

Please come at least 15 minutes before your appointment so we can complete the process as quickly as possible.
